Gender inequality
Why is Gender inequality happening today? Gender inequality is a big problem in our lives today. Women of color, gay men, and transgenders unemployment is through the roof. Social life, discrimination, politics, world leaders and company owners are all a cause of unemployment. This has to come to a stop; the world is being affected, not just people. Men are also being affected by gender inequality the same as women, gay men, and transgenders are affected. They are just affected in different ways.
When women tend to work or get into their professions, women often get treated unfairly.Women tend to be underrepresented on a high level in work. That’s because in the financial industry men senior leadership take over all industries. So that leaves women outnumbered. U.S. Census Bureau data shows that full-time women earned 81 cents to every dollar that men earned in 2024. That increasingly went up from 77 cents in 2004. From that the average black men and latino men are making less than the White men and Asian men. Data from bureau labor statistics black women and latinas get paid significantly lower than asian and white men.People in the LGBTQ community typically earn less than the typical u.s worker because discrimination from others. It goes the same way for colored people. One of the other reasons why we are facing gender inequality today is because of covid 19.
Even though the world seemed so much connected from social media like instagram, twitter and especially tiktok during the pandemic. People were actually slowly starting to disconnect from others. This is when people opinions started to float around about sensitive subjects like trans people and gays and gender inequalities just ended up getting worser as quarantine went by. The pandemic hit transgender Americans hard economically because they were either unemployed or underemployed. Some of them started to experience reduced work hours. Although gays and transgender men and women were being affected. During the pandemic all genders, not only just them but men and women, started to become more separated in a sense. Men started becoming more of the talk by a lot of women during quarantine.
Aren't men affected by this gender inequality too? Well men are more than likely ignored because their value is mostly tied to their work and they are expected to provide for their families. Men are more socially rejected based on opinions and assumptions and are expected to meet such high social norms which causes mental health issues and substance abuse. They are then scared to speak out from the expectation of always having to be tough or simply emotionless.
Gender inequality is still happening today but the covid pandemic isn’t and we as people should be able to solve this and fix at least the whole gender role expectation and the low pay that women have to go through with companies. Overall the road isn’t too far to fix our mistakes.
